American movie and stage actress Marisa Tomei was born on December 4, 1964 in Brooklyn, New York to Patricia, an English teacher, and Gary Tomei, a lawyer. Her parents influenced her into taking a career in acting since they frequently took her to Broadway shows in Midwood, where she grew up.
Marisa has just transferred from Boston University to New York University when she was given a co-starring part in the daytime soap opera "As the World Turns" in 1983. Soon, she stopped her schooling and continued to pursue acting. Marisa was included in the cast of the sitcom "A Different World" in 1987. In 1992, Marisa's outstanding performance in the film "My Cousin Vinny" earned her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
She also received several nominations, such as Funniest Supporting Actress (American Comedy Award) for the film "Slums of Beverly Hills," and Best Supporting Actress (Satellite Award) for the film "What Women Want."
